I am a professional triathlete and Ph.D. candidate at UCSD and the sport that I excel in, triathlon, is on the threshold of mass popularity. Millions of people will be watching the triathlon competition at the 2004 Olympics, health conscious athletes and sports fans, people in your target market.
My goal is to make the 2004 Olympics in Athens and there is every indication that the sport will grow as I improve and gain more experience. After only two years I am two-time USTS National Champion, and this Spring I competed in the 2000 World Championships in Perth where I finished in fourth place in my age group. I have just received my professional triathlete card in June and have every expectation of being at the top of my sport, competing in ITU races worldwide. Monetary support on your part, in the form of sponsorship or a scholarship, would assist me in attaining my full potential. I distinguish myself from other athletes in this field due to my versatile athletic background and academic accomplishments. I graduated from Vanderbilt University as a GTE First Team All-American Scholar Athlete with a 3.99 grade point average, was the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year and was invited to participate in the inaugural WNBA draft camp. I also played varsity tennis at Vanderbilt while balancing a double major in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering. I have a wealth of experience in guest speaking and media relations, have done numerous television, radio and print interviews and have served as a role model to young women in our community.
