Dr. Michelle Palmisano
Michelle defended her PhD dissertation completing a long journey to graduation in June, 2007. Her dissertation analyzed the physiological effects of genetically transfecting desmin, a muscle-specific protein, into mouse muscles completely lacking desmin. This work was done at UCSD with the title, Desmin Intermediate Filaments' Mechanical and Biological Role in Skeletal Muscle. She hopes to continue research focusing on human clinical trials research.
