When Michelle was 9 years old, she raced with her friend, Laura, on the Ventura youth cross country team. She placed fourth in her one and only cross-country race at Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura. That was the extent of her cross-country experiences. Now, at 26 years old, Michelle has resumed her cross-country participation. Michelle races for Harlen-Boeggeter, a sponsored running team involved in the rift valley racing series in San Diego. She is also competing in the Dirt Dog cross-country racing series, which holds its championships on Nov. 4.
